Windows XP English

The following instructions relate to computers running Microsoft Windows XP SP3 (English version)

1. Read the manual of your computer to make sure it can connect to networks of type WiFi (compatible with standard 802.11b / g). Usually the specifications listed at the end of the manual. Warning! Some laptops (laptop) have a switch on / off wireless networking. If your machine has such a switch, make sure that it is well placed.

2. On the right of the taskbar (system tray), select double left-clicking the icon shown. If you do not see such an icon, check that the link is on "Wireless Network Connection" in Control Panel -> Network Connections. Otherwise, the link is activated by double left clicking on the corresponding icon.

3. You should now see on your screen the following window. To refresh the list of wireless networks, select the "Refresh network list" shown on left. Double left click the wireless network name KOS_XXXXXXX_ X (eg the town hall Kos_Town_Hall_1, KOS_Elefterias_square_2) corresponding to the point where you connect.

You will see a new window, informing you about the login process. Wait until finished. The previous window will no longer be the word "Connected" next to the name of the network.

4. Open the browser of your choice and try to visit any one website (eg http://www.google.gr). The browser will display a Web page that welcomes you to the wireless network of the Municipality of Kos. To complete your login, type free user name and free for your password and click "OK".

5. Once you see the following message, you are now able to use broadband to surf the Internet free!
